Organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) have postponed the Nominees Jam due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country and the subsequent ban on all public gatherings by the government.
Ghana has so far recorded seven cases of the deadly virus.
The VGMAs nominess jam was initially scheduled to take place at the Jackson Park in Koforidua in the Eastern Region on Saturday, 4 April 2020.
However, organisers of the event in a statement released on Wednesday, 18 March 2020 announced that the jams have been postponed until a later date following the directive by government.
“The Management of Charterhouse, Board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and Vodafone, regret to announce the postponement of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Nominees Jam, originally scheduled to come off at the Jackson Park, Koforidua, on the 4th of April, 2020. This has become necessary due to the recently confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana, and the national directives on public gathering,” the statement said.
